The Refugee Health Clinic Clinic provides health and social service supports to:
- Government-Assisted Refugees (GARs)
- Refugee Claimants
- Asylum Seekers
- Protected Persons
- Private Sponsored Refugees
Our focus is to:
- Provide temporary health services to refugees during their first six months to a year to a year in Canada
- Provide primary and acute care temporarily to individuals who may not have previously accessed health care (or have a family doctor) , have complex or unmanaged medical conditions, or require medication management
Who Can Access This Service
Government-Assisted Refugees must meet the following:
- Be connected to a settlement counsellor or worker at a settlement agency (such as CCLC)
- Have been in Canada for less than a year, or
- Not have a current physician practicing in London
Other Newcomers and Refugee Claimants to London:
- Must not be on a Visitor, Work, or Education Visa
- Eligibility and care planning will be assessed at the time of intake
How to Access Services
Clients begin with an intake appointment with a systems navigator, who will assess eligibility and help connect the client to appropriate internal and external supports.
By referral (self or through a hospital, another agency, or community partner).
